MVLB–Athlete's Profile: Taylor Sander

Taylor Sander (#15) was born in 1992 in Huntington Beach, California to Steven and Kera Sander. He's currently a sophomore at BYU Provo. Before BYU, he was a student at Norco High School. While he was there, he was a letterwinner for all four years in high school. In 2007, he made the the Mountain View League first team. The year after that, he won the All-League MVP and the Inland Empire All-Tournament Team. The next two years after that, he won the same award with the CIF DIII Player of the Year. In club, he played for the Orange Coast Volleyball Club (OCVC). In the 15u, 17u, and 18u, he made the All-Tournament Team. In his 14u and 16u years, he helped lead his club all the way to third place in the Junior Nationals. Taylor is also an All American, playing for the U.S. Men's Junior National Team since 2008. If that's not enough, when college time came up, he was recruited by five different colleges: USC, UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, University of Hawaii, and BYU. Thank goodness that he chose to play for BYU! His sports hero is Michael Jordan because he worked hard to become the best at his sport. People he admires are his parents "for all their unconditional love and support." With an interview with senior middle blocker, Futi Tavana (#17), he said that "he's, hands down, the best player on the team." He's an awesome player and person and my personal idol I really look up to. Keep up the good work Taylor!
