For the first time in season, the Cougar's lost a game. Even with a mass of people that crowded the Marriott Center, BYU couldn't pull it off. Futi Tavana (#17), senior middle blocker, was finally playing again after recovering from an injury, however, at the exact same time, another injury occurred, which had a major impact on last night's game. During practice this past week, sophomore sensation, Taylor Sander (#15) broke his hand. To take his position, sophomore Andrew Heap (#4) came to take his moment to shine. BYU kept the game real close every set (21-25, 25-20, 20-25, 18-20). Futi lead the Cougar's offense with 13 kills, and Robb Stowell (#13). Russ Lavaja (#5) lead the defense with 5 blocks. Setter Joe Kauliakamoa (#8) assisted 30 points.
Saturday's game was yet again taken by the Cardinals, only this time, the loss was much more brutal as Stanford swept in three sets. Though the Cardinals swept, the Cougars gave them a run for their money. The longest leash the let Stanford on was three points, plus the first set went all the way to 33-35. Tavana lead this game as well with 11 kills, as Stowell followed with the same amount as the night before. Kauliakamoa gave 41 assists and Andrew Heap lead with 6 digs.
