WVLB - Cougars Fall to SMC
After working and fighting for three hard sets, the Cougars just couldn't pull through against Saint Mary's. BYU's head coach, Shawn Olmstead says, "Saint Mary's was a better team than us tonight. They got a lot of serves past us and put a lot of pressure on our passers. We weren't able to respond very well, especially in returning their serves." Though they lost to SMU, the Cougar's sure look like they put up a fight. Jennifer Hamson (#19) led their defense with 8 digs, and following her was Tia Withers (#17) with 7 digs. Leading our offense in kills is also Jennifer Hamson with 10 kills and following her is Christie Carpenter (#14, 9 kills), who also leads the blocking offense with Nicole Warner (#15), both with 2 blocks. Heather Hannemann (#2) was on fire as usual in setting. She set up 33 kills (assists)! As of right now, the Cougars standings is 20-8 in the NCAA, and 9-5 in the West Coast Conference (WCC). Tune in to the next BYU game on Thursday, November 17, against Gonzaga at 4:00 P.M. HST. Watch that Saturday's game against Portland at 10:00 A.M. HST. We have the home court advantage this time so let's take these next two!
